Abstract: | One of the most important. aspects, of power system operation is to supply power to the customers economically. With large interconnection of the electric networks, the energy crises In the world and continuous rise in prices, it is very essential to reduce the running charges of the electric energy i.e. reduce the fuel consumption for meeting particular load demand. The pollution of the earth's atmosphere caused by the emission of SO2, NO and CO2 from thermal generator plants is of great concern to power utilities and communities. So, now-a-days, it becomes necessary to consider environmental cost also in addition to fuel cost for generation dispatch problem. Lastly, security requirement of power network is also one of the _ important factor.. In this thesis work it is proposed to use hi-criterion - global optimization approach to determine the most appropriate generation dispatch solution taking into account fuel costs, environmental costs and security requirements of power networks. The approach is based on the simulated annealing technique and the formation of a bi-criterion objective function. Its effectiveness is demonstrated through an example, in which the sample test system is a 3- area interconnected and longitudinal system. ` |
