A user friendly interactive package "CADRETAIN" for designing and drafting of Gravity, Cantilever and Counterfort retaining walls has been developed. The package is developed on Pentium PC using windows platform. Earth pressure due to backfill, earthquake forces, forces due to surcharge loads and water table has been taken into account. The design of wall elements has been done by the limit state method of design as per IS: 456-2000. The design proceeds in the following sequence: Selection of type of wall, tentative dimensions, computations of • stabilizing and disturbing forces; stability checks and structural design. In "CADRETAIN"-curtailment of reinforcement in stem is provided. It also provides for the design of Shear key when wall fails in sliding failure. In Counterfort wall, option to choose the toe counterforts is provided. The package provides the relevant knowledge base in the form of help files to help the user at all stages of the design. The program gives the graphical output with all details of reinforcement provided and gives a technical report which contains step by step calculations...en_US
