|Abstract:||With the development of computers and various analysis and design softwares, the analysis of wide ranging and complex civil engineering problems has been made quite easier and accurate. The analysis and subsequent design of T- beam bridges by hand calculations is highly complex and time consuming. In this dissertation, analysis and design software STRAP (version 11.0) is used to analyze the T- beam bridge deck. The deck consists of longitudinal beams, cross beams, cantilever portion and deck slab which is supported on and cast monolithically with longitudinal beams and cross beams. Three and five cross girder system has been considered for the analysis. IRC class 70 R tracked, IRC class 70 R wheeled, and IRC class A loadings have been considered for the analysis. A program code in ANSYS parametric design language (APDL) is also developed for the generation of various load cases for IRC class A load, which is used for the analysis of individual deck slab panel by ANSYS 5.4. In the dissertation work this program is only used to validate the results of STRAP. For the design of deck slab panel and T — beam, two separate programs in Microsoft excel is also developed to calculate the steel area for any grade of concrete and steel. Working stress method conforming to IRC: 21-2000, section III is used to develop these programs. Tables are prepared for bending moments of different slab panel dimension for unit udl ( I kN/m2), IRC class A, IRC class 70 R wheeled and IRC class 70 R tracked vehicle. Bending moment and shear force tables for longitudinal beam are also prepared for single lane (carriage way width =5.5 m) & double lane (carriage way width =7.5 m) bridge of different span length (10m, 15m and 20m), and for two cross girder system (3 & 5 cross girder).|
