Issue Date: 2003
Abstract: Damage may occur in any type of structure due to severe earthquake motion. Some damage are of structural type i.e. damage which occur in structural members. Ih present dissertation the method of detection of structural damage are studied by vibration testing. Identification of damage has been studied by observing change in dynamic characteristics of the structures. Two models Cantilevered R.C. beams were constructed and tested through free vibration .test and quasi static test. Changes in natural frequency and damping after damage have been captured. Natural frequency of models is decreased after damage by 76%. Damping of models has been increased by 46%. The stiffness degradation of 42% order has been noted. The large changes in natural frequency and damping are due to yielding of foundation
