Overhead tank is an important and very common public utility structure. Almost every Civil Engineer has to deal with the analysis and design of overhead tanks. Keeping the repetition of similar analysis and design in view, and to facilitate the designer to come up with safe and best economic design within short span of time, the program for the analysis and design of staging of overhead tanks has been developed in this dissertation work. The computer program has been developed using "C++" language. The program is quite general. It is also interactive and so designer has considerable flexibility in designing. The analysis formulation has been done as per Approximate method of analysis of overhead tank's staging and design of the elements as per limit state philosophy using IS:456-2000. For the verification of the program test problems have been solved and compared with their results given in source and one test problem has also been analyzed by using STAAD PRO software for seeing the result's variation from exact analysis, if we use the Approximate method. .en_US
