Issue Date: 2003
Abstract: The current work aims to provide a FEM model for prediction of change in temperature within the flexural element. In the design of most buildings, earthquake and wind effects are usually considered but fire effects are not taken. The occurrence of earthquake is just one in 100 years but the occurrence of fire is much more in just one year. Therefore, it is better to give emphasize to fire also. In India, fire research is ignored. Fire testing facilities are available on very few places. Literature is not sufficient. Some journals are available at CBRI and not adequate work is done in this field. Therefore, this work may give a right direction to the new people in the research topic related to fire. The fire may occur in a built environment for two different reasons. Firstly, due to common accidents, like short circuiting, explosion or sabotage. Secondly, due to bigger natural disaster like earthquake. Such fire are difficult to control because the normal communication network usually breaks down and the fire fighting measures can not be quickly and effectively deployed.
