Maps are required for various purposes such as planning, design and execution of engineering projects, location of different features. So these conventional maps should be converted into digital form for real time applications. As Information Technology is growing rapidly and provides transfer and sharing of data, so every department is converting their data in to a digital form for efficient use for other applications. GIS has the capability to handle large digital data. In this thesis an Information system for Delhi city has been developed in GIS environment. This user friendly system provides complete information of Delhi city such as road network, tourist places, hospitals, offices, stadiums, police stations, banks, educational institutions bus and railway stations etc,. This system provides shortest path and closest facility based on length of road. The Study area is not only Delhi city but it also includes the neighboring places Ghaziabad, Gurgaon, Faridabad and noida called National Capital Region. As Internet users are growing rapidly, for the purpose of multi user access this information system is published on the web. These web maps are prepared to give the limited functionality of GIS, without requiring any web GIS software on the client side. User can able to do functionality like panning, zooming, identification and displaying attributes.en_US
