dc.description.abstractRock slope failure is a common phenomenon in landslides, tunneling, road cuts and mining engineering projects. There are several geological features that affect the stability of slopes. The joint are most dominating out of these and governs the stability requirements. Analysis of the joints and stability is generally done through stereographic projection which is a time consuming exercise. In this project computer program have been developed to get the stereographic projections for the joint planes. Program has also been deve_lope_d_to_analyse_the-plane-wedge-failure including-earth-quake forces out of the different failure modes. The shear strength of the joints varies non linearly with normal stress. To study the effect of this non linearity, the program have also been developed to asses the shear strength of particular normal stress level, by using the shear strength models due to Patton, Barton, Ladanyi and Archambault, and Hoek and Brown.en_US
