Issue Date: 2002
Abstract: The various possible causes of, failures of a ground plus ten-storey reinforced cement concrete building during Gujarat earthquake, which struck on January 26, 2001, is studied. The reinforced cement concrete building, which was standing from the year around 1994, collapsed completely under the same earthquake. The building is reanalyzed with the available plan and member details. Dead load, Live load and Earthquake or seismic loading as per IS: 875-1987 and IS: 1893-1984 are consider for analysis. Reinforced concrete structural member and ductile detailing of reinforced concrete structures subjected to seismic forces as per IS: 456-2000 and IS: 13920-1993 are consider for design. The analysis and design of Mansi building has been done in this dissertation using STAAD. Pro-2001 software package. Finally various conclusions are drawn based on the analysis and design done.
