dc.description.abstract | Developments in high rise buildings have produced a number of new structural concepts, which are efficient and economic in the use of materials. One such concept is the framed tube system, a natural evolution of the rigidly jointed frame, which has proved to be economic over a wide range of building heights. In the present study a comparative study of a plane frame and space frame analysis has been presented for the preliminary design of framed tube structures subjected to lateral and gravity loads . Further, shear lag phenomenon , which has the effect of increasing the stresses in the corner columns and reducing them in the inner columns is of prime consideration in high rise framed tube structures . Parametric studies have been carried out in the study to assess the effect of pertinent parameters such as aspect ratio, building height in terms of the number of stories and relative stiffness of beam to column.. | en_US |
