Abstract: For prediction of aquifer response under pumping, a knowledge of aquifer parameters i.e., storage coefficient and transmissivity is essential. In a graphical method of estimation, pumping test data is analyzed by matching drawdown data with Theis equation. Graphical methods of parameter estimation are error prone tedious and time consuming . In the present study technique is developed to estimate the confined aquifer parameters by automatically fitting the model computed aquifer drawdowns with the experimentally observed drawdowns. The forward problem is solved using implicit finite difference scheme while the inverse problem is solved using "Sensitivity Analysis Technique". The parameter estimation model is applied to estimate the confined aquifer parameters both noise free data and noisy data. The model is found to be robust and reliable for estimating the confined aquifer parameters.
