dc.description.abstract | Steel and concrete both have some distinct advantages over each other. Composite construction is the technique, which utilizes advantages of both materials in the optimum manner. Its various advantages are reduction in depth of beams and weight of structure, saving in construction time and most important, reduction in over all economy. On the basis of efficiency of connection, composite beam may be designed for (i) Full interaction and (ii) Partial interaction. Due to complicity in analysis and unavailability of set rules of design for partial interaction, generally composite beams are designed for full interaction. Design being an iterative procedure, is a laborious and time taking process . Computer Aided Design is the tool which saves a lot of engineer's time and provide more accurate results. In this Dissertation, software "COMPBEAM-2001" has been developed for design of steel concrete composite beam. The Program prepared in "C" Language is interactive and quite flexible in nature. Design is based on limit state approach. Recommendations of Indian Standard, IS: 11384 —85 are in-built. Required tables have also been included in the program. User need not to refer all these while designing by this software. | en_US |
