Performance evaluation of an AC-filter was carried out. Different parameters were checked after every tenth litre starting from first litre for different water samples. Water samples were prepared by increasing their hardness in steps. This was done by adding calculated dose of Calcium Chloride in three steps. Four different samples which were analysed had initial hardness of 210 mg/1, 325 mg/1, 425 mg/1 and 500 mg/1 each respectively. For calculation of total hardness, alkalinity, chlorides and calcium, method of titration was used whereas for measuring pH, conductivity and sulphate different instruments like pH meter, digital conductivity meter and turbidimeter were used respectively. Above study infers that initially removal is high through AC-filter if the concentration of solute is more and vice versa. But after a definite volume of water has passed through AC-filter, removal starts decreasing after increasing the concentration.en_US
