dc.description.abstractCable net roof is one of the few alternatives to cover large area without using columns. It is made up of parallel steel cables generally running in two mutually perpendicular directions. Nets have either stiff boundries like beams, rings and arches, or flexible boundaries i.e. cable nets with edge cables. An attempt has been made in the present study to understand the effects of various structural parameters namely level of pretension in cables, cross-sectional area of cables, spacing of cables, sag and hog of central cables, volume of steel and edge stiffness on the response of a saddle-shaped i.e hyperbolic paraboloid cable net with rigid beams as boundary. Static analysis of the net has been obtained using a computer program in FORTRAN-77. Variations in member forces and deflection of unsupported nodes have been observed and results are presented in the form 'of non-dimensional graphs.en_US
