dc.description.abstractSIFCON (Slurry infiltrated fibrous concrete) is one of the recently developed construction material. It can be considered as a high fibre volume (5% to 20%) fibre reinforced concrete. It is a unique combination of high strength and high ductility. It has a great potential for application in structures designed for dynamic loads, repairs and rehabilitation, explosive resistant structure etc. At present very little is known about its behaviour. The aim of this investigation was to study the performance of SIFCON in torsion and shear. Sixty specimens 50x50x300 mm in size with fibre content varying from 6% to 12% and aspect ratio 60, 75, 90, 110 were tested in torsion and shear each. The specimens were tested on torsion testing machine for torque-twist relation upto ultimate torque and on the shear test set-up upto ultimate shear stress. The experimental results show an increase in ultimate torque and ultimate shear strength with increase on both fibre content and aspect ratio upto a certain limit but beyond which it starts decreasing.en_US
