Issue Date: 2004
Abstract: Two phase flow and flow boiling are encountered in a variety of fields such as nuclear and thermal power generation, desalination, air-conditioning refrigeration etc. Two phase flow is also encountered in solar water pumping solar refrigeration, solar power generation etc. For the design of condensers and reboiler, the accuracy in the values of heat transfer coefficient is needed. The knowledge flow patters and pressure drops in the two phase flow will result in the economic design of equipments, involving connective boiling. In this thesis work, various pressure drop correlations has been used to calculate the total pressure drop and these values have been compared with the experimental values. So it can be found that which correlations predict, accurately. A heat transfer coefficients for the flow boiling inside tube has been proposed and it has been compared with the experimental results available. This correlation is useful in the certain range of quality pressure drop and mass velocity.
