Object-oriented Programming Characteristics as abstraction, inheritance, and encapsulation of data and operations support three desirable features in the development of complicated engineering software systems : modularity, reusability, and ease of maintenance. The thesis presents computer aided analysis, design and drafting of multistoreyed building frames using object-oriented programming paradigm. The chief problem with the programs of structural engineering is complexity. Integrated program for analysis, design and drafting of multistoreyed frames is too large and complicated. Because of this complexity, programs are prone to error, and software errors can be expensive and even life threatening. To reduce these complexities and chances of error being created OOP approach has been adopted in this dissertation work. The present dissertation work consists of development of an integrated software for analysis, design and drafting of multistoreyed building frames on personal computers. For analysis stiffness method has been used. The design of beams and columns of the frame confers to IS:456-1978 specifications. The computer program has been written in c++ language and implemented on BorlandC++ 3.1 compiler. The program consists of three modules, analysis, design and drafting. The analysis part analyses plane as well as space frames. The design part design rectangular beams and rectangular as well as circular columns. The drafting part draws cross-section of members, longitudinal section of members and loading on columns. ( ien_US
