Abstract: Due to geologic, rock structure and other factors related to subsurface, surface and above surface, ground water availability is not uniform. Large data are needed to evaluate suitable site for tube well location. That is why there is utmost need to select the site for tube well locations. As it requires a great deal of money, proper care should be taken to choose site before installing tube wells. In the presant study ; area nearby Roorkee has been studied; In the region acute shortage of water, even for drinking are faced by the people. Water table in this region is much lower and has large fluctuations. Tube wells in region could not provide enough water and failed to function well. The data required such as physiographic, hydrologic, soil, climate, geology and other were collected through integrated use of remote sensing and field surveys. Base map, land cover map ,subsurface and surface soil map, slope, contour and geomorphological map were prepared. For land evaluation of tube well site, various parameter were considered. Data integration was carried out thorugh a decision rule. Decision rule was prepared on the basis of field surveys. Suitability analysis was carried out and area was catagorized in three suitability classes e.g. highly suitable, moderately suitable and not suitable based on total score of the G.M.U.
