Authors: Kumar, Anil
Keywords: CIVIL ENGINEERING;FERROCEMENT;SANDWICH PLATES;BENDING
Issue Date: 1996
Abstract: Ferrocement elements for roofing, flooring and wall construction, gaining popularity because of its smaller self weight, ease of construction, architectural flexibility and economy of materials. Ferrocemeht can be advantage only utilized as facing material for sandwich panels. In the present investigation thermocole is used in the core material, which is very light and may improve thermal insulation of the ferrocement sandwich elements. An investigation was carried out on ferrocement sandwich plates to study their bending and thermal behaviour. During the investigation, the effect of fire on plates were also observed. The objective of this dissertation is to discuss the comparison of theoretical and experimental results of different parameters like ultimate and first crack load, central deflection, strain distribution, crack pattern, thermal conductivity and fire effect.
