Abstract: | Environmental Impact Assessment is a concept that evolved in the search for ways to render development and protection of the environment compatible in the complex and interdependent world of today. It gives the planners insight into the probable ill-effects of the project over socio-economic and physical environment, thus enabling them to modify the project in such a way as it gives benefits to the society in general. Present study is directed towards the assessment of environmental impact due to a Proposed Brewery Project, in Alwar district, Rajasthan. The EIA study for the project is based on the field data collected on various aspects of environments including air, water, land, sound, resources and socio-economic status of area within 10 km radius around the proposed project. Data were also collected from two other breweries which are working in the same district at present. These data were used for finding the probable impact due to proposed brewery. In the analysis the project was categorised intially by rating criteria and then analysed by matrix method using Impact Summary Matrix and Leopold Matrix. EIA study for the proposed project reveals that adverse impacts on the environment will not be significant. On the other hand there will be a good socio-economic growth of the region from the establishment of the Proposed Brewery Project. |
