Abstract: The natural water systems in India are polluted from different sources, such as domestic industrial, agricultural, natural, etc. The pollutants coming as a waste to the water bodies are likely to create nuisance by way of physical appearance, odour, taste, quality and render the water harmful for domestic, commercial, industrial, agricultural and other use. So there is a need to understand at all levels the necessity for clean environment and to create an awareness and attitude for the prevention of pollution. Prevention and control of pollution in a major polluting chemical industry may at the first sight pose to be a burden on the industry and the measures may seen to be cost prohibitive, but in the long run this could be considered as repayment to the society as a social debt.....
