The problem of removing polluting substances from spent wash of distilleries has been a subject of great considration and investigation since long. Aeration have been reported, playing staring roles in new methods of waste treatment of many industrial wastes. Sedimentation is most widely used physical process in the waste water treatment, but areation is a valuable adjacent to sedimentation, because it substantially speed up the process. Therefore, aeration, which is needed to remove organic, inorganic, colour, turbidity, living and nonliving colloidal will definitely be used to a much greater extent in further in pollution control plant. This investigation Joretain to an experimental laboratory .•— scale study of coolour removal, COD removal and suspended solids removal from distillery effluent by aeration process. Percentage colour removal of the sample has been determined by measureing its absorbance through spectronic-20 spectrophoto meter. It is expeeted that more work on this type of treatment shall be done and if successful in pilot plant studies, it will implemented in field.en_US
