dc.description.abstractSteel is one of the most popular materials used in structural applications of all kinds, due to its high strength-to-weight and strength-to-cost ratio and the ease and speed of construction of steel structures. In developing country like India there is an ever increasing demand of constructing a large number of Industrial buildings. The time and money involved in the analysis and design of such structures can be very much reduced by adopting computer Aided Analysis and Design Technique. This dissertation is the extension of software developed by Girraj Singh Yaday for roof elements only. In this dissertation, CAD software has been developed for the analysis and design of single cloumn, double column, bracket, base plate and footing of column. For the design of column, lacing, bracket, and base plate, provisions of IS:800-1984, and, for the design of concrete footing by limit state method, provisions of IS-456-1978 have been used. The program has been written in Fortran-77. The software is interactive,' user friendly and easy to modify. The input is minimal.en_US
