In the rapid race of industralization and economic development, the environment which protects human life is being destroyed at a very fast rate. There has been global demand to control air pollution. Among the various pollution control equipment, cyclone separators are constantly used in all those application where only a small portion of the dust to be collected is below 5 microns. In the present study an algorithm for optimal design of a cyclone separator has been developed. The design has been compared with the conventional design. A parameteric study has been conducted to see the effect of discharge, grain size distribution parameters, economic parameters and design efficiency on the optimal cost.en_US
