Issue Date: 1994
Abstract: In developing countries, shortage of funds is a major driving force which leads a designer to strive for an optimal design of the system. A literature survey on optimization of sewage treatment plant design reveals that most of the reputed work is on some sophisticated design such as the activated sludge process. Sewage treatment through lagooning is a known economical alternative for waste water treatment, especially where large land area is available at low cost.. In the present study. attempt made relates to develop a data for cost effective low cost treatment methods like aerated 7.agoon followed by aerated lagoon, aerated lagoon followed by waste stabilization pond, waste stabilization pond followed by waste stabilization pond, and anaerobic pond followed by waste stabilization pond. The results specify the optimal data in terms of treatment efficiencies within the system.
