The design of clarifier is a multidisciplinary problem, involves knowledge of environmental and structural concrete experts. The structural design of reinforced concrete (liquid retaining) structures involves many tedious calculation and/or numerous charts or tables. Frequently some careless human errors, which are fatal to design, may be intwipced in calculations or in interpolations of design charts or tables. The drafting of such structures with reinforcement detailing becomes tedious and time consuming job for deSigner. In view of this a_computer—alded- __ lot design and drafting package would appear to necessary. This thesis presents the develorryi'itirof a computer program CLARIFIER for computer aided design and drafting of clarifier. It is a environmental and structural engineering problem capable of performing functional design of clarifier, structural analysis of wall and estimatft- of materials. ..ling t.o of wa'lTr and- ei,dm of-AiELDIL.' According to analysis results it performs design of different structural elements and also giv4,, recommendations about suitable concrete thicknesses and reinforcement rie'taillqrfor different structural element based on IS:456-1978 and IS:3370 (Part IV) 1967. The most commonly encounter- shape, namely, cinular configuration, for clarifier ( v ) tanks is catered for. This shape with the three different tank locaqions i.e. locating at ground or below ground surface or partially below ground ti,surface, constitute -three different combination to be considered in computer program. Due to numerous advantages provided by Turbo C, it is adopted as programming language.en_US
