Issue Date: 1994
Abstract: The principle of slip energy recovery enables operation of a wound rotor, induction motor to be performed over a wide range of speed maintaining high operating efficiency. A static slip energy recovery drive, considered in present. work, uses a recovery loop consisting of a 3-phase diode rectifier, a dc link filter and a line commutated 3-phase inverter. In 1978-80 few papers from Mittle, Venkatesan and Gupta were published on the analysis and performance investigation of a static slip energy recovery drive. In 1988 Krause et. al. pointed out a flaw in the formulation of mathematical model used in above work. In present thesis the drive has been analyzed using another model which takes into account the objection raised by Krause. The, drive has been simulated on a digital computer to compute its steady state behaviour as a function of inverter firing angle. Performance characteristics are presented and discussed
