Issue Date: 1995
Abstract: Solid particles are generated in many industrial and metallurgical processes. In order to remove these particulate matter various types of dedusting equipments are available such as settling chamber, cyclones, multiclones, spray tower, cyclone scrubber, venturi scrubber, electrostatic precipitator and Fabric filter. Work has already been done on dedusting equipments to predict the collection efficiency, pressure drop and costs of the device for any particulate emission, but no apparent work is reported so far for determining the most economical dedusting device at a target efficiency. The aim of present work is to predict the most optimal dedusting unit at 99% collection efficiency, for two cases out of-which one contains more fine particles and another more coarse. An electrostatic precipitator hais been found suitable for particulate emission which contains more fine particles at a high flow rate and high efficiency and a cyclone scrubber has been found suitable for particulate emission which contains more coarse particles at a high collection efficiency and a low flow rate.
