There are numberod.ilarge as well as small textile industries in our country, manufacturing a variety of cloth in enormous quantity daily. For their better marketting and sale these clothes are given different attractive colours and hues by dyei. g. The waste water discharged from these textile industries pollute the water sources. The most noticeable characteristic of the effluent from such an industry is colour. Colours not only cause the bad aesthetical effects but also reduce the seltpurification of rivers by inhibiting photosynthetic production of oxygen and direct destruction of aquatic communities. The objective of present work is to search suitable and economical method for-the treatment of coloured waste water from medium sized dying industries inorder to control the pollution load in receiving water courses. The present work address to the treatment of such waste waterSby adsorption technique. Four different adsorbents Bagasse-ash, Saw-Dust, Charcoal & Activated Charcoal, were taken. Their different dosage were applied on synthetic dye solution under same initial condition. Best result was found with activated charcoal. Effects of pH, Mixing time, Initial concentration of •dye solution and dosoge of adsorbent were studied by performing experiments with activated charcoal and dye solution.en_US
