Issue Date: 1990
Abstract: Lath the invention of digital computers and the network theories it is now possible to schedule various activities in a project economically, efficiently and quickly. Keeping this in view, a computer interactive software package is developed in this dissertation. Network techniques, scheduling procedures and the algorithms have been discussed. The computer programs, developed by Vishwanath( 16 ) for project scheduling and for resource levelling, have been modified while calendar dated scheduling is independently written in a way that it may run successfully for any number of week end holidays and other closed holidays. The software(*Veloped in this dissertation is capable of performing the tasks of a calendar dated project scheduling, and resource levelling in a single run. The data can be entered in a free format in an interactive mode through a terminal and also through a data file. Several data checks have been incorporated to ensure correctness of the data. Salient features of the program have been highlighted. A project of canal lining has been taken as a case study and the results are presented. Some of the intermediate results have been stored on seperate files which will be helpful for the preparations of the graphs and the bar charts.
