Title: ESTIMATION OF DEFORMATION MODULUS OF HIMALAYAN ROCKS
Authors: Rajvanshi, U. S.
Keywords: CIVIL ENGINEERING;DEFORMATION MODULUS;ROCK MASS;HIMALAYAS
Issue Date: 1991
Abstract: With the increase in the activity in connection with the construction of river valley projects in the Himalayas, the ' correct technique of testing for insitu deformation modulus of rock mass has gained importance. In the dissertation, the following points have been high-lighted :- - The various practices which are being followed for plate-bearing test. - The interpretation of load deformation curves. - The various factors affecting the deformation modulus value of a test. - "The depth-effect" on-value of deformation modulus. - "The roof and floor effect" on value of deformation modulus. - A case study indicating the type of rock based on the deformability characters tics. - A case study showing the meticulous use of deformation moduli at different stress ranges for the design of a high concrete-gravity dam. The work done by the author will goa long way in understanding the deformation modulus in a rational way.
