Transportation network of a country is the foundation on which the edifice of all other economic development would rest. Transportation network planning and its modification for reducing congestion is a task which requires the generation of a number of alternative solutions out of which the best one should be selected. It is the most tedious job, if attempted manually and also it inhibits a person from probing all possible solutions. Hence this work of applying computer aided design to prepare a handy tool for the above purpose has been taken up. The package consists of 5 parts, which do interactive modification and analysis of road transportation networks, capacity calculations, matro-level economic evaluations, budgetary analysis and graphic representation of all the results obtained. All the packages were made interactive and user friendly. Missing data checks were incorporated wherever found feasible. Several national objectives were incorporated in the analysis part. The results obtained from each analysis for a test network taken up were interpreted appropriately. Possible applications of the package for short-term trouble shooting operations were enumerated. It is expected and trusted that the package would be a useful tool for transportation planners and policy makersen_US
