Abstract: The thesis presents a study of the transient Phenomena encountered in grid-connected induction generators. A mathematical model in the form of system equation comprising of voltage current equation and the equation of motion has been developed. The model used a set of modified d-q reference frames and has the advantage that all the machine parameters used in the model can be obtained from test data. This, therefore, obviates the usual necessity of arbitrarily approtioning the total leakage reactance into stator and leakage reactances. The model has been used to theoretically determine transient performance of the grid connection induction generator under switching in reconnection to supply with trapped rotor switching-off and Efforts have been made to evaluate the effect of operational conditions like initial speed, instant of the voltage cycle when the switch is closed etc. On the transient current, torque and speed.
