Abstract: ;elf Excited Induction Generator is a good means of generating electrical power from variable speed turbines as it n.en happens in conventional methods of power generation as with wind, small waterfall etc. A review of existing method used for the self excited induction generator has been carried out and the dissertation includes the transient analysis of a system containing three phase induction machine, a bank of self excitation capacitors, controlled converter, DC link, inverter Cline commutated connected to a grid. While carrying out the analysis modelling of different components used in the system has been done. Digital simulation technique has been used to simulate the models. And finally relevant sof t war es have been developed through which different performance characteristics have been investigated for large transients like Ca) sudden change in converter firing angle and restoringtoits original state after a time delay. Cb) sudden chat geini nput torque to induction machine and restoring to its or i gi nal state after a ti me delay.
