The Computer Numerically Controlled (CNC) machine are the most recent and advanced machines taking advantage of most upto date numerical technology where by the machines are controlled by computers giving very high order of precision. The CNC machines are used for boring, drilling, shamphering purposes giving excellent smooth finish to the job. Since, CNC machine are high precision machines, their foundation should also be very precise under machine loads i.e. adequate stiffness of foundation be made available to achieve the required level of precision. In this dissertation work, the foundation has been analysed for the CNC machine loading under varying conditions of soil and thickness of foundation. The requirement of the stiffness is to limit the curvature of the deflected shape of foundation within allowable limits. Analysis has been carried out to see the effect of stiffness of soil and flexural rigidity of the foundation block over the curvature of the deflected shape of foundation block and reaching to an optimum solution of stiffness of soil and thickness of block to keep the curvature within limits. This dissertation also include an effort made to improve the elastic stiffness of soil with the help of reinforcement embedded in soil. In the end, the above analysis is applied to an actual field problem. 2 Cen_US
