SOFTWARE FOR GABION RETAINING WALL WITH GRAPHICS

Abstract

Construction of retaining walls in hilly terrain is really a challenging job for executive staff.In the lower Himalayan Region geological conditins changes abruptly, hence proper design of retaining wall becomes necessary for differnt geological conditions. In the present study, a "Computer program for gabion retaining wall with graphics " has been developed.Computer program for gabion retaining wall Type A,Type B and Type C has been developed using 'Fortran' language along with 'Graph X' library to present the analysis results with graphics display on P.C. monitor. Now-a-days personal compUters are readily available with the design engineers, hence the software developed provides an efficient means for design of gabion retaining wall with a physical feel of wall section instantaneously to the designer at the time of design,which reduces the drafting time and exepediture on the same to almost negligible amount. Software has been used sucessfully for design of gabion retaining wall constructed in field and design charts have been compiled to assist design and site engineers to give off hand simple and faster approach to
