Abstract: The aim of any technology is to smoothen the lives of common men. Since the dawn of civilization, shelter has been one of the basic need of mankind. A lot of work has been done in the past in this regard. Our effort in just a small endeavour in that direction. In the present work, we have tried to prepare a desigh chart for the foundations of structures in the village Imlikhera. This chart is intended to be used by the villagers or to help them in the design of footing. Here we have made use of already available cheap and easy working mini penetrometers like mini SPT and mini BUT. These instruments can be very easily transported to the proposed site and operated upon. Based. on the number of blows obtained by them, suitable proportioning of footing can be done by taking help from the design charts The work reported is based on both field and laboratory tests. An extensive experimental work has been carried out to prepare the chart and make it suitable for the village.
