Issue Date: 1989
Abstract: The object of the present work is to develop user's friendly and interactive computer programs for design of commonly used Retaining walls viz., Rigid, Cantilever and Counterfort Retaining walls. The ease and flexibility, incorporated in the programs, is given r.: prime importance, during the development of programs. The program asseses the stability and design under static, as well as dynamic conditions. An attempt has been made in analysis, to account for, effects of various backfill conditions. For analysis the recommendations of IS:1893-1984, were followed. RCC designs were done in strict adherence with provision of IS: 456-1978. Once the programs were developed parametric studies were, taken up to arrive at various useful con-clusions and design charts. These design charts will serve as a useful aid, and guide for the future designers. The accuracy of design charts is assesed at the end.
