Abstract: It is proposed to develop a system which picks up ECG signal from patient body , in case of ventricular arhythmias and similar cases through standard leads, via one channel signal conditioner, then pass through general purpose digital filter for removing base line wander, power line interference and its harmonics etc. Further it was propose to develop a method for discriminating the ventricular tachycardia from ventricular fibrillation during ventricular flutter period, on the basis of sequential hypothesis test. In this work , an integer coefficient bandpass digital filter has been designed for removing the base line wander and power line interference and its harmonics Filter has been tested on simulated as well as actual ECG data . This is a general purpose filter for removing base line wander and signal of a fixed frequency and its harmonics . Provided sampling frequency is an integer multiple of fixed frequency component (fundamental) further, a method has been developed for discriminating between ventricular fibrillation , ventricular tachycardia and normal sinus rhythm. software has been written. in ' C ' and tested with simulated data . This method is very useful to discriminate between VT & VF disorder as there is intersection between their normal distribution curves for VT & VF. For making a rule for sequential hypothesis test, three group of data are collected and classified for making their normal distribution against type of disease . The sequential hypothesis applied to discriminate the intersection part of ventricular tachycardia and ventricular fibrillation (ventricular flutter) type of disease for proper treatment
