dc.description.abstract | • Computation of gradually varied flow profiles is required for problems relatec-! to flood plain zoning, protection works, submergence of area due to. the construction of a dam etc. These computations are repeti tive.in nature and hence can be best. carried out wyi th the help of computers. In addi tion, resulting water surface profiles can also be plotted using graphic packages which are now easily available. In the•present study an attempt has been made to • pow compute the gradually vari edkfrofiles• using four different methods namely the Direct Step Method, Trapezoidal Method, Fourth order Runge Kul...La 4,ilethod and Chow' s Method. The developed program can solve for four different channel shapes viz., triangular, rectangular, trapezoival and irregular having either of sustaining or nonsustaining slopes. GVF profiles in channels having two different slopes can also be compettd using this program. If the slopes cause the formation of hydraulic jump, the profile of the jump can also be competed wi th thp help of developed program. A graphic package using the facilities of Microsoft 77 compiler has also been developed to plot the resulting water surface profiles. | en_US |
