Title: EFFECT OF CERTAIN PARAMETERS ON DYNAMIC PENETRATION RESISTANCE OF SANDS
Authors: Sikka, D. V.
Keywords: CIVIL ENGINEERING;SANDS;DYNAMIC PENETRATION;CERTAIN PARAMETERS
Issue Date: 1991
Abstract: Dynamic Penetration Tests have become a significant part cf sub-surface investigations. The ease of carrying out the tests and the useful information it provides has attracted investigators to make it more useful by studying its behaviour in depth. This study is another attempt in that direction. Many factors affect dynamic penetration resistance. Some of these factors have been studied, specially the effect of over-burden pressure. This study covers some other factors as detailed below. Method of preparation of samples ii. The effect of the weight ratio iii. The effect of the shape of penetrometer iv. The effect of the size of penetrometer, and v. The effect of the size of container. The work reported is primarily based on laboratory model studLes. The relationships have also been related to the field studies reported by others to demonstrate their usefulness in practice.
