Abstract: This report of dissertion titled "DYNAMIC ANALYSIS OF SINGLE MACHINE SYSTEM INCORPORATING POWER SYSTEM STABILIZERS" consists of details of the dynamic stability of an interconnected power system. Linearised small perturbation state space model of a machine infinite bus system is presented & a systematic approach for obtaining optimum parameters of the conventional & rule based power system stabilizers, using Integral squre Error technique has been suggested. Dynamic performance of the system having rule based PSS is compared with the conventional PSS. Linear state space model of a machine infinite bus system, considering governor turbine model along with Demello & concordia excitation system model, is developed. The optimum parameter settings of the rule based PSS are compared with those obtained without considering Governor turbine model. A detailed senstivity analysis has been carried out by considering a wide variation in system parameters like, real power o/p (p), reactive power o/p (q), AVR Gain (KA), open ckt field time constant (Tdo'), Inertia constant (M) & Transmission line reactance (X).
