Abstract: The term 'Ecology' was introduced more than a hundred years ago by. Ernst Haeckel and 'Ecosystem' in the 1920's by Woltereck (Remmert, 1980).. Now, after a lapse of. Seventy years of ecological research, these words are being dicovered anew . They have become modern, and echo on all sides. As Earnst Haeckel put it, `Ecology'.is the study of the economics of nature. An "Ecosystem" is .the basic functional unit with which we must deal since it includes both the organisms and the nonliving environment, each influencing the properties of the other and both necessary for maintenance of life as we have it on the earth (Odum, 1975).............
