Abstract: With growing emphasis on the ,use of low grade energy e.:g. solar, geothermal, waste steam etc., the interest in va--pour absorption refrigeration system has rejuvemteuoThis has also engendered the need to evolve better refrigerant-ab-sorbent pairs as the existing refrigerant-absorbent pairs, such as aqua-ammonia and lithium bromide-water, show limita, tions'in their application with low grade energy. Large number of investigated pairs have been reported in literature.. Ther-modynamic properties are to be known for selection of suitable pair for low grade energy utilisation. After a thorough scanning of the literature, five re-frigerant-absorbent pairs were selected for Present work. Ex-periments were conducted to obtain thermodynamic proPerties of refrigerant, a22, with five absorbents viz. dimethyl acetamide, cyclohexanone, diethylene glycol, aniline and XYlene. A simple analytical method has been developed for de-termination of thermodynamic properties of liquid mixtures of Polar molecules by using those of pure components which is a significant contribution of the present investigation. Experimental apparatus were designed and fabricated and the following measurements were done.
