Issue Date: 1985
Abstract: Ever increasing demand on groundwater has created an awareness of optimum development of groundwater. Hence the study of water movement in aquifers is very important. Consequently groundwater modeling is being increasingly used for evaluation and prediction of aquifer behaviour. The present work is concerned with design, fabri-cation and calibration of a horizontal viscous flow model for a portion of the aquifer between Yamuna river and Eastern Yamuna Canal from Sarsawa in Saharanpur to lin in Muzaffarnagar. The model incorporates the seepage outflow and inflow across aquifer boundaries as well as the effect of recharge due to rainfall penetration and return seepage. The model is calibrated using the available field data for the past 11 years from 1971 to 1981. The calibrated model is then run for predicting the water table contours for the years 1991 and 2001.
