dc.description.abstract | Fighting over the ages has been mants most favourite passtime, motivated primarily by his unsati-able hunger for power, wealth and territory. And a fighter must essentially, among other things, drink his water to be able to survive. The existing water treatment equipments held by the armed forces. can meet their requirements but with severe limitations. Mainly sedimentation and chlorination processes are resorted to. Sedithentation will not ordinarily give adequate treatment to water. Chlorina-tion alone cannot guarantee the effective removal of pathogens like Entamobea Histrolytica and certain cysts. The production of wholesome and palatable water requires the use of a filter. However, a fil-tration plant for the combat troops should be compos-ite, compact, flexible in operation and mobile.
