dc.description.abstract | Many regions in the world are regularly affected by substantial damages due. to floods and consequent riverbank reaches. Severe hydraulic loading and rather low safety levels of existing dike system are the common reasons of these damages. And although river bank erosion is the most common problem for rivers which flow on alluvial plains. The study investigates erosion particularly with respect to the existence of meandering symptom of a river in the form of a case study. In this dissertation, deposition-erosion processes in the Lower Mekong Basin Delta in Vietnam, contributed by the Tien and Tra Khuc River are studied. Various bank protection techniques have been analyzed and methods investigated to minimize the effect of erosion. The insight of the process of erosion — deposition of Tra Khuc River is analyzed by using HEC-6 program based on the survey data of river before and after construction of the dike system along with the effect of the Thach Nham headwork system. Computation of the stability of riverbank on Tien River from this result and comparison allow us to compare and select a suitable method for protection against bank erosion. | en_US |
