Abstract: The present investigation pertains to the studies of power consumption and gas hold-up in multiphase agitated systems. The agitated system consisted of cylindrical vessel having 310 mm inside diameter, 715 mm height provided with a ring sparger of 113 mm diameter, turbine type of impeller and four baffles. The dimensions of the vessel and impeller were of standard geometrical configuration. The systems studied were air-water, air-sodium carboxymethyl cellulose, air-water-glass beads, air-Sodium carboxymethyl cellulose-glass beads. Pour concentrations of sodium carboxymethyl cellulose solution in water (0.015, 0,030, 0,1 and 0„2ilew/w) were used for the study, The operaing'variables varied over a wide range - the impeller speed from 300 rpm to 800 rpm and air superficial velocity. from 0,0046 m's to 0,0184 m/s; A generalised correlation for pseuoplastic power law fluid has been recommended....
