The present work deals with the upward swirling flow, in long tubes achieved through two tangential entries. Earlier workers have found that when the Swirl is sufficiently strong a reversal of flow is observed, which would prove detrimental to any heat or mass transfer operation. PhotograPhically it has boon observed that by injecting air at the axis of the tube the flow reversal is completely destroyed. in ow pattern has buen studied in prc son co air core by dye injection technique. Effect of various geometrical and flow dynamic parameters on pressure drop in such flow have been studied. Theoretical method to compute the pressure drop in this type of flow has been presented. The comparison between the proposed corr,u'Ged pressure and measured pressure drop shows a variation of + 20% using an entry block and + 15% using a swirl chamber.en_US
