dc.description.abstract | Wind interference effect due to neighboring buildings may produce wind loads greater than the isolated building. It is not possible to evaluate the correct wind loads for closely spared buildings with the help of codes and requires extensive wind tunnel testing which is very expensive and time consuming. If at a later stage on a project there are some modifications, it is very difficult to conduct the wind tunnel testing again because it is a costly affair. In this research work, CFD simulation of wind tunnel experiment will be carried out to observe the interference effect of tall buildings with different arrangement and wind incidence angles. In this study the Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulation of wind tunnel flow has been carried out. Results obtained through CFD Simulation of wind tunnel experiment have been compared with wind standards of different countries and experimental data. After validation study of wind interference effect amongst tall buildings has been carried out with different arrangement and wind incidence angles. In the current study six different setups of building models were considered. The setup 1 was the isolated building without any interfering building. Setup 2 was two building model with 50 mm (Ib) spacing, Setup 2a was two building model with 100 mm (2b) spacing and Setup 2b was two building model with 150 mm (3b) spacing. Setup 3 and setup 4 were three building model with different position of object building with 50 mm (lb) spacing. Size of object building and interfering building was kept same with dimensions 50mmx50mmx400mm. Wind incidence angle ((3) has been varied from 00 to 180° with increment of 30° in anticlockwise direction. Due to limitation of time and resources available this study has limited to this extent. Further we can study more than three building models and with different arrangement. | en_US |
